The Basic Hamam
One programme, and every part of it named
The Basic Hamam is a traditional Turkish bath from start to finish. First the heat, then a thorough scrub with the kese, then the soap foam, and at the end a short oil massage. A vehicle picks you up at your hotel and drives you back there afterwards.
It is the same programme whichever of our pickup areas you are staying in, with one price for adults and a lower one for children. Anything not listed as included costs extra, and we would rather tell you that here than have you find out at the hamam.
Warm stone, a proper scrub and a cloud of soap foam: that is the difference between a hamam and a sauna.

What happens

The order and timing can vary a little with the hamam and how busy it is.

Pickup at your hotel
An air-conditioned vehicle collects you. We confirm the time with you before the day.

Arrive and change
You change into your swimwear. A towel, slippers and a peştemal — the traditional hamam wrap — are ready for you.

Sauna and steam room
Dry heat first, then the warm, wet air of the steam room: the warm-up before the scrub.

The warm marble
You lie on the göbektaşı, the heated marble platform at the heart of a hamam.

Kese
An attendant scrubs you from shoulders to feet with the kese, a coarse-textured mitt.

Foam
Then a cloud of soap foam: a foam wash and a foam massage.

Oil massage
A basic aromatic oil massage of about 20 minutes.

Rinse, rest and change
You rinse off, rest for a while and change back into your own clothes.

Longer massages and extra treatments are sold at the hamam itself, at its own prices. They are not part of the Basic Hamam and are not booked here.
Good to know
- Not recommended during pregnancy, with heart or circulatory conditions, or if you do not cope well with heat or humidity.
- Under a doctor's care, or with high or low blood pressure, a skin condition, a recent operation or an injury? Ask your doctor first, and tell the hamam before your session.
- Before your session, eat only lightly and do not drink alcohol.
- You can ask for a female attendant — there is a box for it when you book.
- Children 4–10 pay €10; under-4s are free. The massages are meant for adults, so we need the children's ages when you book.

How much does a Turkish bath in Side cost?
The Basic Hamam costs €20 per adult (11 and over) and €10 for children aged 4 to 10; children under 4 come free. The price includes the hotel transfer both ways, and you pay it on the day of your visit.
Is the hotel transfer included?
Yes. Pickup from your hotel and the ride back are included for every hotel in our 9 pickup areas: Side, Kumköy, Evrenseki, Çolaklı, Gündoğdu, Sorgun, Titreyengöl, Kızılağaç and Kızılot. The transfer is by air-conditioned vehicle.
What is included in the Basic Hamam?
Hotel pickup and return, the sauna and the steam room, the hamam itself on the heated marble, a kese scrub, the foam wash and foam massage and, to finish, a basic aromatic oil massage lasting about 20 minutes. You are given a peştemal, a towel and slippers.
Which massage is included?
A basic aromatic oil massage of about 20 minutes, after the kese and the foam. Premium or longer massage treatments are not part of the Basic Hamam.
Where is the hamam?
The hamam is chosen according to your hotel and the area it is in. The transfer takes you there and brings you back, so you do not need an address or a taxi.
How long does it take?
About 2.5 to 3 hours from pickup to drop-off, including the transfers. The oil massage takes about 20 minutes.
What time is the pickup?
It depends on where your hotel is. We confirm your pickup time with you before the day, by phone or WhatsApp.
What should I wear?
Swimwear, all the way through. You are also given a peştemal, the traditional hamam wrap. Nobody is asked to be naked. The details are in what to wear to a hamam.
How do I pay?
You pay on the day of your visit. Nothing is charged online, and the booking form does not ask for card details.
