How the foam is made

The foam traditionally comes from a thin cloth bag. The attendant soaks it in soapy water, traps air inside it and squeezes it out over you, over and over, until you lie under a white blanket of foam. It is a small piece of theatre in the middle of the bath.

Wash and massage in one

Under the foam, the attendant washes and massages you. After the firm kese, it is the gentle part of the visit. It usually takes place on the warm marble, in your swimwear, and you are rinsed off afterwards.

Where it fits

1. Sauna and steam room — the warm-up.
2. The heated marble — the göbektaşı.
3. Kese — the full-body scrub.
4. Foam wash and foam massage.
5. Basic aromatic oil massage, about 20 minutes.

That is the usual order in our Basic Hamam. The exact order and timing can vary a little with the hamam and how busy it is.

Foam massage or oil massage?

They are two different things, and the Basic Hamam includes both. The foam massage is part of the bath itself: soap, water and warm marble. The oil massage comes afterwards and uses aromatic oil. The Basic Hamam does not include longer or premium massages; a longer massage can be bought at the hamam itself, at its own prices.

You get the foam wash and foam massage as part of the Basic Hamam, at €20 per adult with the hotel transfer both ways. For children aged 4 to 10 the price is €10; please tell us how old they are when you book, since the massage stages are meant for adults. Book your hamam.
